Girl Scout Logo PA Brownie Troop 36-131

Brownie131@comcast.net

My name is Heather Hagelgans.  I have been a troop leader for 3 years.  My troop consists of 12 girls – 11 second graders and 1 third grader.  We meet at Mt. Nebo UMC on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00pm.  During this time, we work on badges called try-its and crafts called SWAPS (Special Whatcamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere).

Every year the girls must decide on a service project.  In November of 2006, we helped one less fortunate family in the local area with gifts for Christmas and household items.  This past year, we decided to assist the Martic Angels with helping twelve less fortunate families with items for Christmas.

In October of 2007, we took our first camping trip.  What an experience!!! We learned how to cook outdoors, made walking sticks, took a hike, and learned about the outdoors and each other.  We are looking forward to the next trip.

We have just begun our 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Sale.
January 4 – Girls begin taking orders
February 15 – Cookies arrive
February 15 – March 11 – Girl Scout OUT & ABOUTS
Come see us!! We will be at Kmart (Kendig Square) on Friday February 15th from 4 – 8 pm and Saturday February 16th from 8am – 2 pm.

Girl Scout Thinking Day – February 22, 2008
Girl Scout Week – March 9 – March 15, 2008

On March 13, 2008, we will be celebrating Girl Scout Week with the Martic Unit (all the troops from Martic Elementary School) at Mt. Nebo UMC.  We will be hosting Critter Bob for the girls to learn about some different types of animals.

Our final ceremony of the year will be May 19th 2008.  Troop 131 hosts the Martic Unit and their families at Mt. Nebo UMC for our bridging ceremony.  This is where the girls move up to the next level of girl scouting.  It’s a fun and exciting event for the girls and their families to see the accomplishments they have made through the year.

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:

To serve God and my country,

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be

honest and fair,

friendly and helpful,

considerate and caring,

courageous and strong, and

responsible for what I say and do,

and to

respect myself and others,

respect authority,

use resources wisely,

make the world a better place, and

be a sister to every Girl Scout.
